CUSTOMER TARIFF ADVISORY: Recent Reciprocal Tariff Updates
On April 5 and April 9, 2025, new reciprocal tariffs will go into effect under the authority of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), as directed by Executive Order. These measures apply to most countries and products, with limited exemptions for USMCA-compliant goods, certain sectoral goods (e.g., automobiles, pharmaceuticals, semiconductors), and items such as artworks and informational materials.
Key details include:
- A base 10% tariff effective April 5 on imports from most nations.
- Country-specific tariff increases effective April 9.
- Exemptions for goods already in transit before the effective dates.
